Many of you might not know what we have been dealing with, but in September of 2019, Kelly was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder/cancer that affects her red blood cells and bone marrow after being admitted into the hospital. One of the biggest concerns with this disease is it causes blood clots to form. Because of this, doctors have to keep her iron/ferritin levels extremely low to prevent the clotting. She has regular phlebotomies and infusions; however, now she has chronic anemia, which has led to additional issues. Since the initial diagnosis, Kelly has had extensive treatments at Emory Cancer Center in Atlanta. In early 2020, she was found to have some heart issues with PVCs. Several months later, it was determined that Kelly had actually had a mild heart attack. With the different medical issues that had occurred, Kelly was suffering from stomach issues, and her gallbladder was removed.

Last year, Kelly suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital once again. Since that time, she has experienced cognitive issues specifically related to her short-term memory. She has issues recalling the correct words to use and often repeats things constantly. Kelly continues to have issues with balance, dizziness, and debilitating migraines. Kelly currently has a clot/occlusion located at her C2 vertebra.

Since 2019, we have had massive medical bills (many not covered by our insurance), and we have depleted our savings and retirement accounts. Kelly has not been able to work or even drive a vehicle for over four years. We currently have listed our house for sale to try and downsize to help with bills but have not yet sold it. Disability was applied for but denied and is currently under an appeal.

It is extremely hard and out of our comfort zone to put this information out there and ask for help, but we are at the point of losing everything. Even if you are unable to donate (we know times are tough), if you could please share this request.
