For over 15 years, Heather has dedicated her life to photographing owls, rescuing wildlife, educating the public, and bringing comfort to millions through her videos and advocacy.

What many people do not know is that behind the camera, Heather has been battling late-stage Lyme disease for 17 years.

Over a decade ago, I watched this illness nearly take her life. Lyme disease attacked her heart, nervous system, and brain. She spent years fighting to survive, but after losing access to treatment six years ago, many of the same terrifying symptoms are now rapidly returning.

Heather is losing vision, suffering severe neurological symptoms, struggling to walk safely, collapsing, and experiencing serious cardiac complications believed to be connected to Lyme disease. Multiple hospital visits and medical concerns have left those closest to her terrified for her safety.

At the same time, the mould and chemical exposure in her current subsidized housing are making her dramatically worse. Multiple doctors have documented concerns and advocated for relocation, but nothing has changed.

Recently, Heather’s vehicle, her only safe way to access medical care, pharmacies, and basic necessities was vandalized and deemed a total loss.

This fundraiser was originally created to help replace her transportation. However, as Heather’s health continues to decline, we are now pivoting toward the far more urgent reality: keeping her alive, accessing medical care, and getting her into a safe living environment before her condition worsens further.

Funds raised will help with:

• Emergency medical expenses

• Lyme disease treatment and specialist appointments

• Safe housing and relocation costs

• Transportation needs

• Basic survival during this medical crisis

Heather has spent her life helping others and giving a voice to wildlife that could not speak for themselves. Right now, she needs people to stand beside her.
