Jorge's Road to Recovery
Hey Team Cisneros,
As we enter the giving season, please consider donating to the Cisneros family. Lindsay still has not returned to work, though, she works very hard every day helping with Jorge's recovery. If you have not read the latest update, I encourage you to do so. He continues to make great progress! Keep it up!
On May 5, 2021 Jorge was riding his own bike when he collided with a motorbike, sustaining a traumatic brain injury. The doctors took excellent care of Jorge, completing several procedures to reduce the bleeding in his brain, repair a punctured lung and address broken bones in his shoulder.
The family was relocated to LA, where Jorge has received additional treatment for his injuries. His cognitive recovery will be ongoing for many months with the support of occupational, physical, and speech therapies. Jorge’s insurance is no longer able to pay for his rehab hospital. He has been moved to a costly out-of-pocket facility.
The family has decided to settle in Jacksonville Florida, where Lindsay's mom and step-dad live. There is a treatment center in the area specifically for TBI. Currently the whole family is living together with her mom.
I first met Jorge fifteen years ago through my rugby mate, Lindsay. Throughout the years, our families have shared many wonderful times together. I specifically remember one occasion where the Cisneros’ invited us to join them in their favorite past time, the Indy Eleven soccer game. At one point during the game Jorge disappeared, only to return with Indy Eleven scarves for all of us. This was so typical of Jorge. He always found ways to bring joy to the occasion.
If you know Jorge, you know he would be the first to give you the shirt off his back. He would be there to offer a smile or a kind word. We are asking the community to join us, today, in supporting the recovery of this very special person. Please consider donating any amount.
Thank you all for your kind words, prayers and contributions. Please continue to spread the word and follow his journey at: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jorgecisneros
