Running in Memory of Eden Young ♥

In honour and memory of my step sister Eden we are running the October Manchester Half in support the Eden Young Fellowship for Aspiring Working Class Journalists.

Polyester is proud to announce the launch of the Eden Young Fellowship for Aspiring Working-Class Journalists.

In 2023 we were devastated to lose our close friend, podcast co-host and Managing Editor, Eden Young. To commemorate her life, we are launching a fellowship program, via which we will employ a working-class journalist who will receive a fully paid, full-time, year-long position in the Polyester team.

Eden had so many wonderful attributes, and chief among them was being a proud working class woman – a rarity in an industry wherein over 80% of journalists come from professional and upper class backgrounds. Her attitude, as well as Polyester’s as a whole, was very much to figure it out as she went along. She learned how to run social accounts, be an incredible podcast host, and generally be an integral part of Polyester, all on the job with no formal training. To honour her immense legacy within arts, culture, feminism, and internet culture, we’ll employ an aspiring journalist as a member of the Polyester team, offering them this same type of on-the-job training.
