My name is Madison and I am 13 years old. The reason why I am attempting to raise money through this program is that I would very much like to participate in a full year competition cheer team. I started cheerleading and tumbling when I was in 6 years old. My goal is continue to imporove and hopefully gain a scholoarship into a university. Throughout the years my parents have provided me the the opportunity to do what I love, and as I teenager, I know that they have had to sacrifice a lot so that they could do these things for me. All they ever asked in return was for me to keep school as my number one priority. Through my two years in middle school I have maintained straight A's, was inducted into the Beta Club, and even earned 1st chair for flute in my band class!
Just a few weeks ago I asked my parents if it would be possible for me to join the full year competition cheer team. They spent a lot of time looking into the cost, their budget, etc... After a long discussion, they told me that it was not financially possible. The cost was just too much. I could see it in their eyes that it killed them to tell me no. Some people may not see cheerleading/tumble as an important investment, but my family sees it as something that makes me happy, something that I am good at, and therefore makes it is an investment in my future.
My parents work very hard, but life challenges have presented my family with times that are very difficult. My brother faces many challenges and I know how hard that is emotionally and financially.
I would very much like the opportunity to do something to ease the stress my parents are going through. I am hoping that through the generosity of others, I will be able particpate in this cheer program. My parents have always taught me that kindness will always be returned ten-fold.
