While Tyson and I were on our daily walk through the woods he was gored by jagged wire that was strung between two trees across the path we were on. The wire caused an injury to an artery in his front left leg. The injury led to a consequential amount of blood loss. as I had to carry him a quarter mile back to our car and then on to an emergency clinic. At the clinic the doctor told me that the bleeding could not be controlled adequately through compression or other conventional means. She suggested he undergo several blood tests, a blood transfusion, sedation, and ultimately surgery to repair the damaged artery in his leg.
Of course injuries, human or pet, never check to see the balance of your student loans, your savings account, or any other medical bills you already have.. they just happen. I'm seeking to offset the fairly substantial costs for Tyson to have his leg properly cared for to minimize the chance of a life and/or limb threatening infection, and ultimately the best quality of life he can have moving forward. (He's a German Shorthaired Pointer that pretty much lives to run.)
