Hi, my name is Damon Bard.
I am creating this gofundme with hopes to raise money for online school tuition to receive training through Gnomon School of Visual Effects.
www.gnomonschool.com

My career has been in a state of flux and transition for awhile now and as some of you know, I work in Animation and Visual Effects as a traditional artist with my main medium of choice being clay. I develop characters and creatures in clay for animated films and movies but my particular process has become obsolete and mostly this type of work is now done digitally.
My website:

For the past year, I have been mostly unemployed and attempting to learn the digital sculpting program Zbrush with the hopes of making a transition from traditional (analog) to digital. Let me be honest, I have been teaching myself and it is going really slowly. Also, this is not the only program I need to learn in order to compete and gain employment working as a digital artist. *(This does not mean however that I will stop offering traditional clay services, I will just be incorporating digital skills to my repertoire. Also, during this training, I will be available for projects both digitally and traditionally with the digital services limited to vis dev.)
So, in short, this training consists of a curriculum of 6 courses, it will take 1yr 3 months and the money I am raising will cover the courses and software subscriptions. From what Gnomon has told me, this education will train me in a methodical order to get me prepared to work efficiently as a digital artist in the industry. I can't afford tuition, yet I need to learn new skills that will allow me to continue to work in my chosen profession and this is where I am reaching out to you; my friends, colleagues and fans of my work.
I have always been mostly a self-taught artist and I never went to college but at 40 yrs old I am ready for the challenge. The Gnomon School has a great reputation and from what I hear most of the students that graduate work in the field today.
Please share and support me if you can during this important transition, I greatly appreciate it!
My Best,
Damon Bard
