Austin New is a freshman at FGCU in Ft. Myers, Florida studying Business and Marketing. He grew up in Plant City, FL where his love of fishing began at a very young age. Austin is a loving, caring, and outgoing person. On January 31st, at the start of his second semester, he fell from the sixth story of a campus parking garage. Austin suffered serious injuries and is in the ICU at Lee County Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida. Austin suffered serious injuries to his feet, ankles, pelvis and back. Austin miraculously survived.
Austin and his family need our help.
Austin’s parents, Heather and Scott, rushed to his side and have been there with him since they got the call no parent ever wants to get. With all their attention on Austin’s survival and recovery, Heather and Scott are both losing income, incurring hotel and food expenses, and racking up huge medical bills they don’t know if they will be able to pay. All Austin’s parents want to do is get Austin through this; all we want to do is help this family along this long road to recovery.
Austin will remain in the hospital until all of his surgeries are complete. Once complete, his recovery at home could take 6 months or more. Austin will be wheelchair-bound while recovering and the family will need to make the home wheelchair accessible.
