Cockfield United F.C's 2000K for £2K
Donation protected
Cockfield United are raising funds to replace goalposts which are now over 20 years old & showing their age. This will help the continued provision of safe football in the village which has occurred from before 1938! The members of the club will look to complete 2,000km in 30 days throughout March & April with the aim of raising £2,000!
Cockfield United F.C is a grassroots football club that like all organisations has to work even harder in the current circumstances to keep afloat & thrive. As such we will be aiming to complete 2,000km in 31 days with the members from the 4 sides currently at the club.
Cockfield United F.C provides football for 4 adult sides; 2 on a Saturday, a Sunday side & a Veterans team. We also are home to a Bury Town youth side on Saturday mornings so our goals & facilities get plenty of use.
Our current goals were installed way back in 1999 & whilst many things have changed since then our goals have remained come rain or shine to see in over 1,000 games. In the past few seasons these steadfast companions of the football team have begun to show their age with paint flaking, posts & crossbars not going together quite so seamlessly & nets becoming more difficult to clip in. The time has come to upgrade & update perhaps our most important piece of equipment.
Sadly, with anything, this does not come cheaply & we need to raise money so we can purchase 2 pairs of goals for the continued safe provision of football, at our home of football!
The great folks at Tesco Groundworks have already helped us greatly in this cause by donating £1,000 towards this project but that only gets us about a third of the way towards our target. We desperately need your help to guide us towards our goal! For 31 days from the 13th of March members of the club will look to pound the pavements & lap fields to try & do 2,000 km to show our commitment to this cause.
Any donation to support our boys efforts will be massively appreciated & put to great use within this project!
