Emergency Rescue of 13 parrots

Exotic Bird Rescue of Oregon was founded in December 1994 due to a local parrot aviary neglect situation. The mission of EBR is to provide a safe haven for birds in need and to seek proper placement of them through a variety of proven rescue models.
EBR needs your help! On 10/18 we received a call from a healthcare facility regarding a woman in the hospital who owns 13 birds that were not being cared for.
EBR volunteers responded to the woman's home and found a terrible scene. The woman is a hoarder and most of the rooms of the house were not accessible. As hoarders do, the children were not allowed in the home for a number of years. The conditions were just too horrible to leave these birds in the home so EBR took all 13 birds: 2 goffins cockatoos, 3 African greys, 1 bronze wing pionus, 2 mustache parakeets, 1 cockatiel, 1 slender bill conure, 2 dusky headed conures, 1 canary.
A long time EBR Board member described the conditions as "the worst I have seen in my time at the rescue." The air quality in the home was awful which is extremely harmful for birds. Their cages were so dirty that power washing could not clean them. This is an emergency situation and all birds to see an avian vet and all caging will likely need replaced.
EBR operates on a small budget and volunteers donate so much of their own money and time providing care to over 80 birds in foster care. But this emergency situation has put EBR in a difficult position and we urgently need donations to help support the care and caging of these neglected 13 parrots.
