Dearest Supporters to be,
Troy Stephen’s family has allowed us, their friends, to establish this Go Fund Me project to help them while Troy recovers from a significant surgical procedure which he underwent this past August.
You may be one of Troy’s many close friends, relatives and teammates in Kitchener-Waterloo, across Canada, the United States and Germany. If so, you have undoubtedly felt the connection with his awesome light-hearted personality & the great friendship and camaraderie that comes with it. We are asking everyone that has been touched by our buddy Troy to donate to this fund so we can collectively help ease the burden and help his family focus on his care.
Troy is recovering at Toronto Western Medical Centre from an operation on Tuesday August 27th to remove a benign brain tumor which was diagnosed in May. The ten hour procedure was successful in removing the tumor, however Troy has a challenging path ahead during his recovery to regular daily life. We are very happy that Troy is walking, his motor skills are functioning and he is fully coherent and communicating. However, the effects of the tumor & surgery have left some paralysis on the right side of his head and face. Everyone is hopeful that with time to recover, therapy and exercise, this will subside.
Troy’s wife Bettina is splitting her time between work in Waterloo and Troy’s bedside in Toronto while their son Josh continues in his 2nd year at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota. Troy’s parents, Anne and Doug are with Troy in Toronto everyday. Troy’s sister Kim resides with her family in Vancouver and has been a consistent presence in Toronto or on the phone through the entire process.
Your donation will assist immediately with: sustaining Troy & Bettina’s home in Waterloo, sustaining Josh while away at school, the family’s travel & accommodations, the expenses ahead that may include additional care and therapy.
We will post updates on this Go Fund Me page and let you know how our buddy Troy (Snapper / the Snap Cat / Scooter) is progressing.
Thank you very much for your generosity.
