Tylers Osteosarcoma Journey
Donation protected
UPDATE: Tylers cancer has progressed alot quicker than originally thought and now he has been told that he will have to have his leg amputated
We are now trying to raise funds for Tyler himself to try help him through the most difficult time of his life.
This is Tyler Clayton, 18 years old from Cottesmore. He's always been a fit and healthy young lad until recently.
Six months ago Tyler started noticing pains in his left knee which caused him to have a limp. Over time the swelling grew around his knee, increasing in pain.
He believed this was a simple sports injury from college and that with time it would heal.
But it didn't, at the beginning of August Tyler had an x-ray of his left leg to check what was happening.
Immediately the next day the doctor rang his mother with urgent concerns that the x-ray results looked suspiciously like Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer) and that he needed to be put on a two week pathway to determine exactly what it was.
After numerous tests and a biopsy, he got the dreaded call; he did in fact have a high-grade osteoblastic osteosarcoma. Fortunately the cancer is local to Tyler’s left knee area..
He is now starting what they believe will be one years worth of treatment; Two cycles of chemotherapy, then surgery to cut out all the bad bone and reconstruct his leg and knee with metal work, then 4 more cycles of chemotherapy.
On the 15th of September he was finally admitted to start his fight, his journey to beat this starts now!
All being well he will get his PICC line fitted and his chemotherapy immediately.
Thank you for taking the time to read Tyler's story, he would be ever so grateful for every penny donated so please donate what you can.
