Hi everyone, I have always said this would never be me but due to Ladybug's unforeseen health issues.. here we are. A few weeks ago we noticed Leia had a limp- thinking it was just a sprain we took her to the vet who didn't think it was worth the further testing and just sent us home with a steroid to help her healing process. Only three days later, she became lethargic and unable to hold down foods with semi-explosive diarrhea. We thought it was just the steroid until she started having uncontrollable bloody poop and the vomiting continued with blood spotting as well. We rushed to the ER immediately, and it's lucky we did.

The steroid had caused Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis, a tearing up of her gut causing her to bleed internally. They were hopeful because we'd brought her in so quickly, and they started her on antibiotics and fluids to try to keep her from going septic. While there they discovered some of her organs were enlarged, and asked if we'd had her thyroid checked-- we had not. So for the next two days, they kept her, until they felt she was okay to come home. We were feeling blessed, even if we were struggling to find where the $3000 for this stay and help would come from.

A few hours after being home, she still wasn't comfortable and in obvious pain so we made an appointment at our regular vet for more testing... another $800 later, and we finally found the cause.

Cushing's Disease.

Her little body was making too much cortisol, a steroid, and the added prednisone on top of it caused her internal bleeding. We caught it in time and she didn't need a transfusion. So, with pain meds and a new, lifetime adrenal suppressant, she is finally home.

Due to the season we're in, it's been hard on my mom (and I). This fund would help her pay off the bills from this unfortunate event and allow us to move into the next season of healing for our little lady.
