Before I begin I would like to give thanks to whomever is reading this for taking the time to read and digest this artists story, this post may be the very thing what saves Ryan's future and most importantly his eyesight
After years of glasses we noticed that his perscription always weakened rapidly and we were always wondering why his vision fluctuated. The eye doctor had no idea so he recomended Ryan to get a 3D map of his eyes. After doing so they found out that he had intermediate Keratoconus ( spectacles nor contacts work at this stage) and that it was advancing rapidly, hence the fluctuating perscriptions. For those who do not know what Keratoconus is, it is a degenerative disease of the corneas in which eventually leads to blindness.
We were blown away and never thought he had this so we started to look at options on how to stop the progression and to correct his vision.
We found alot of informaton on keratoconus and reached out to a doctor in California that speacializes in KC. We found out the costs and expenses to have him fly out there to end this episode of his path to blindness.
Ryan is probaly the most kind hearted, self-less, high spirited and down to earth person we have met, not to mention the talent he displays in almost everything! From speaking 4 languages to dancing to athletics to painting amazing heartfelt paintings to being able to inspire people, he is one of a kind!
To know that he was bestowed with such disease really cripples our hearts because of the potential he has for success is limitless.
We see the frustration he has when trying to paint or even when looking out into the horizon, hes always mentioning that he can't see anything we point at and that he's worried he wouldn't be able to achieve his ambitons and goals (which are all to help the world) in life due to his vision. This kid has immense visions for the world and ironically lacks the physical vision to attain it. He's always saying "The universe gave me this disease as a blessing in disguise for when I overcome this obstacle I would be able to help the world overcome their obstacles and to always keep faith to the higher power, this is my way to relate to humanity; imperfection."
So here it is, finally a fund raiser to help Ryan get his vision better than ever. We truly care for Ryan and want him to continue to paint is amazing pictures and we hope you guys will be able to help in this cause.
Much love,
Friends and Family.
