Kate Evans is many things: a loving mother to Dylan and Morgan; a supportive daughter, sister, friend; and an enthusiastic yoga instructor.
Recently, Kate found out that she has to undergo open heart surgery in the weeks ahead to correct a defective heart valve. Heart valves push blood through the chambers of the heart in one direction. When heart valves are defective, some blood flows backward with each beat of the heart, which causes pooling in the chambers. This is a serious medical condition and greatly impacts Kate’s ability to complete day to day tasks, or do the things she loves most, such as teaching yoga, or hiking along the Empire Bluffs near her home.
While most of Kate’s surgery costs should be covered by Medicaid (pending approval), we have put together this GoFundMe campaign to assist Kate with living expenses during her recovery, as well as any additional medical costs not covered by Medicaid. After her surgery, Kate will be unable to work for at least 3 months, and during that first month, she will be unable to do much of anything physically.
