Hello, our names are Jessica Scott and Destiny Tolbert.
In just moments, Destiny and her family’s world was turned upside down when an electrical fire broke out in their home. The fire spread so quickly that they lost nearly everything, including their belongings, their sense of normalcy, and the place they called home.
I have had the privilege of working alongside and befriending Destiny for the past five years. She is one of the most genuine, caring, and hardworking people I know. Seeing someone as kind and selfless as her experience such heartbreak has been devastating.
My husband and I are big advocates for helping families in need, and with him being a firefighter, we have seen firsthand how quickly tragedy can strike. We have witnessed the heartbreak that follows, but also the incredible strength and unity that come when communities come together to help one another. If you are able to donate, even a small amount will go such a long way for Destiny and her family.
Right now, they are trying to rebuild their lives from the ground up. Meaning they will need enough to cover several months of living and medical costs. With the holidays approaching, this loss feels even heavier. We are hoping to come together as a community, across states, neighborhoods, and hearts, to help them find stability and comfort during such a difficult time.
Every contribution will go directly toward essentials such as clothing, food, temporary housing, and the items needed to help them start over.
Destiny shared on Facebook, “I have no words. Please keep my family in your prayers.”
