Josh's is a member of the South Eugene Robotics Team - a team and organization that he has enthusiastically devoted long hours and hard work. This year their team has made it to the national championship in St. Louis from April 22-25 – a costly endeavor, but well worth it for the experience of seeing the amazing accomplishments of the others that will be there with him, but also for the opportunity to learn and grow his interest in engineering sciences, as well as meet with college recruiters. How cool is that?
In the 2 years he has been on the team he has become an integral part, and this year he was nominated for the Dean’s List Award. Among the things listed in the nomination letter written by his mentors was this: “During this year's build season, Josh has worked on the robot's electronics, mechanics, and pneumatics. He moves fluidly from sub-team to sub-team and provides insight and leadership to all…. He has an understanding of how the many pieces of SERT work together and is consistent, empathetic, and encouraging when interacting with teammates and mentors. And even though he commits long hours to robotics both on- and off-season, he still manages to maintain very good grades at a highly competitive high school. Josh rarely needs to take time off from build to attend to his studies, he just uses his time very efficiently and maintains focus on the task at hand, whether it is writing a paper or wiring a Festo”.
Josh’s cost is estimated to be $1300, which includes airfare, accommodations and meals. He’s a terrific team member, good student, and a truly great kid (not just saying that because he’s mine). Any donation you make toward the goal will be very much appreciated.
