The atrocities being committed at such a grand scale in Palestine in public view has garnered the world’s attention. We need to take advantage of the opportunity before us; to reclaim our collective humanity and set the pace for issuing a new status quo of peace, justice, and accountability. While the world is watching, we must amplify the voices of Palestinians living under occupation and reclaim the narrative around Palestinians resisting military violence. It is critical that we, the people, reclaim the narrative around the struggle for freedom from the violence of empire. It is critical that we, the people, demand that genocide against any people, anywhere, must be categorically condemned and immediately stopped.

As community members in one of the most militarized places in the Pacific, Citizens For Peace HI understands that it is our collective responsibility to stand against systemic oppression and colonial violence wherever it occurs. Our proposed response to this ongoing catastrophe is to bring about a show of solidarity within our community by organizing a people’s march and rally through one of Honolulu’s most busy thoroughfares: from Ala Moana Park to Kapiʻolani Park. This march marks an opportunity to empower Palestinian and Native Hawaiian voices as leaders in organizing towards a more fruitful future. Our hope is that through this show of strength in our community for a common goal of peace and liberty, we can change individual and public attitudes surrounding conversations of de-occupation and demilitarization.
