Would you please help Skylar’s family through this very difficult time?

On June 10, 2021, 4-year-old Skylar Choi, went to sleep peacefully in Jesus after a tragic accidental drowning on June 5, 2021. Skylar had just graduated from preschool and was looking forward to starting summer school with his classmates the following week. During his preschool graduation, he felt compelled to give an impromptu prayer showing his love and gratitude for Jesus and his school. Skylar was an advanced reader and writer well beyond his years. He also had a love for playing piano, for singing, for praying, and a love for Jesus and for his dear friends.

He is survived by his family, Daniel (father), Susan (mother), and Olivia (1 year old sister). His parents are understandably overwhelmed with grief, not to mention hit with unexpected expenses, such as a high deductible for his medical plan. Daniel has taken time off to deal with this tragedy and to be there for his wife who is a stay-at-home mother. However, expenses are expected to mount as he may have to take extended bereavement time as they grieve the loss of their first-born child. Daniel (CW3) is a US Army veteran, California National guardsman, and currently provides training and operational support to the US military, which involves a lot of travel and time away from home.

As friends of the Choi family here in the Sacramento area, we have set up this Go Fund me fundraiser for those who desire to help the Choi family as they are trying to mend their home and hearts through this unspeakable tragedy. The funds raised will go towards covering hospital expenses, funeral costs, and bereavement support for the Choi family.

5살 최진수 어린이는 2021년 6월 10일에 예수님 안에서 편히 잠들었습니다. 2021년 6월6일 수영장에서 있었던 비극적인 사고 후 4일 만이었습니다. 진수가 유아원 졸업식을 마친지 얼마되지 않았고 다음주에 있을 여름학교에 친구들과 함께하기를 기다리고 있었습니다. 얼마 전 있었던 유아원 졸업식에서 진수는 예정에 없던 대표 기도를 하겠다고 손을 들어 선생님과 엄마 아빠를 놀라게 했습니다. 강단에 서서 예수님과 학교 선생님들께 감사하며 또박또박 기도를 했습니다. 진수는 자신의 나이를 넘어서는 읽기 쓰기 실력을 보였습니다. 또한 피아노치기, 노래, 기도하는 것을 좋아했고 예수님과 친구들을 사랑했습니다.

진수는 아빠 다니엘, 엄마 수잔, 그리고 여동생 올리비아(1세)와 함께 살았습니다. 진수의 부모는 깊은 슬픔에 잠겨있는 동시에 또 다른 어려움이 있는데, 의료보험이 지원하지 않는 병원비입니다. 아빠 다니엘은 현재 상고휴가를 내어 가족과 함께 집에 머무르고 있습니다. 하지만 가족과 함께 슬픔을 이겨내기 위한 시간을 갖기 위해 상고휴가를 연장하는 일은 진수네 가족에 경제적 어려움을 더하게 될 것입니다. 아빠 다니엘은 전역 미군/캘리포니아 방위군이며, 현재는 미군의 훈련과 작전을 지원하는 일을 하고 있는데 잦은 출장으로 집을 떠나야만 합니다.
