Jolene Mesch’s family started this campaign to raise funds – to help eliminate as much stress as possible for their sister, Jolene, her husband, Rob, and their children Mileah (17), Stella (12), and Rhett (9). In March, Jolene underwent emergency surgery, had to utilize an infection specialist, spent 6 nights in the hospital, and is being faced with the decision about undergoing several months of chemo therapy. All of your charitable contributions will be used to help pay for these expenses.
Jolene is healthy; she takes care of herself – working out several days a week and eating a pretty clean diet. But she wasn’t feeling up to even walking to prepare for a St. Patrick’s Day road race. For more than a week, Jolene thought she had the flu - fatigue, vomiting, etc., until one morning she woke up with an overwhelming pain in her abdomen – Since her husband, Rob, was already at work, she asked her daughter, Mileah, to take her to the ER at Mercy Hospital In Iowa City, to be looked at. When she arrived, a CT scan was done and an obstruction was spotted in the large intestine. At that point she was told she would have surgery that day. The biggest shock came when the doctor told Jolene and her family she likely had the “C” word.
Later that day she and her family received the news that the obstruction had caused so much infection in her large intestines that 75% of it had to be removed along with part of her colon. Then they received the news a few days later that the obstruction that was removed was, in fact, cancerous.
Jolene Mesch, is a STRONG 37 year old. She lives life striving to be the best mom for her 3 kids, the best wife to her husband, the best sibling to her sisters and brother, the best daughter to her parents and father-in-law, the most caring person for her the patients at her clinic, and the greatest friend to anyone she meets. For those of you that have had the privilege of meeting this terrific woman, she is a class act. She is an outstanding parent, wife, daughter, and friend.
We ask that you open your hearts and find a way to contribute to this fight. If you know Jolene, you know she will do her part, now we just need to do ours.
