Help Michael’s (Bear’s) Family in Their Time of Need

Donation protected
Michael Eugene Hoosack, 66, of Midlothian, VA, peacefully passed away on June 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was known affectionately as Mike, Bear, Hook, and Pop Pop. He was born on November 26, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Eugene J.J. Hoosack and Betty M. Hoosack.

Mike graduated from Norview High School in 1976 where he met his high school sweetheart Paula and later married in 1979. He worked in the overhead door business and was employed at Dominion Door Solutions.

Mike knew how to have a good time and make a joke whether inappropriate or not. As most of you know he had a magnetic personality and was an amazing friend always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid lover of the St.Louis/Los Angeles Rams football team from the age of 10. Mike had a love for percussion and played the drums growing up; he loved classic rock and went to numerous concerts saving every ticket stub. He enjoyed the beach and Outerbanks vacations with his family. He cherished the girls in his life and loved being a husband, Father and Pop Pop to his girl gang.

Mike left behind his wife, the love of his life, Paula, of 45 years; three daughters Kelli Bradley (Ricky) of Powhatan, Virginia, Kimmie Cintron (Brandon) of Powhatan, Virginia, and Krista Dovel (Justin) of Midlothian, Virginia; and six grandchildren Elisha, Joni, Marley, Annabella, Hannah and Melanie. He is also survived by two sisters Sandi Trader (Bobby), and Debbie Jones (Mickey); and his in-laws, Roger and Vickie Butcher, Claude and Lori Cox, and Kenny and Lori Warmunde of Chesapeake, Virginia; several nieces and nephews that he adored, and countless friends.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Francis Hospital for taking such good care of him. Thank you to the South Beach Family for all your love and support.

Please join us for a celebration of life on Thursday June 27th at 12pm at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23113. Bear was a cool and casual guy so wear what you please! His favorite colors were red and black!

Our dear friend, Michael Hoosack, also known as (Bear), has been struggling with his health these past few months. Michael has asthma and COPD, and suffered with RSV starting in February 2024, which led to many hospital stays. He got better for a very short period of time and then caught pneumonia due to his low immune system and many hospital stays. He has been in the hospital (St. Francis) since April and is in the intensive care unit.

Michael was put on a ventilator this past week, June 5, 2024. Our dear friend has a beautiful wife, Paula, who is also a close friend, and three beautiful daughters that have all been at his side during this trying time.

This family needs our help any way possible. Michael is the first to jump to the aid of any of his friends in a time of need. He’s a very special man to us and has a huge heart of compassion. I hope we can help do the same for him and his family at this difficult time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small and please keep this amazing family in your thoughts and prayers.
