Our dog, Sonia started accumulating fluid in her chest and abdomen and losing body mass about a year and a half ago. We've gotten to the point where she is accumulating over a gallon of fluid every 6-8 weeks. We've seen the specialists at Sage and now the fantasic team at UC Davis is trying to figure out what's causing the fluid build up. She's been up there twice and our next trip will be for exploratory surgery to biopsy her liver and intestines. We got Sonia when she was 2 years old and we're her fourth home. We don't want to give up on her, but her vet bills are really high. Each time she's pumped out is approximately $500.00, and the vet put her on a special diet that's not cheap either. I don't have enough room on my credit card for surgery, but I want to keep the ball rolling before she completey falls apart. Sonia is only 5 years old and I'd love to keep her around for at least 5 more. Help solve Sonia's mystery - and hopfully help some other doggies in the future! Thank you and doggie kisses from Sonia.
