To my amazing network of friends, family and to the generous supporters who my story may touch: I am a survivor of domestic violence and with the help of my family, have pulled myself, and my 3 boys out of an abusive environment.
However, over the past 5 years, the abuse continues as my ex-husband uses the courts to control, manipulate and harass me, the son we share, and my family.
In his latest act of manipulation, he has forced me back into the courtroom. We currently share custody of my youngest son, but he has hired a lawyer to try to take full custody. The court has ordered a custody trial which threatens to tear my son away from me and his 2 brothers.
My ex-husband has been named in several child protective services reports and has had 3 personal protection orders open against him at the same time. Under these circumstances, full custody would not be in the best interest of my child.
I need to retain a lawyer to help me through this custody battle and I am seeking your support.
I have been blessed with a wonderful family who has been by my side through everything, but there is only so much they can do to support me financially.
We are anxious to put these endless proceedings behind us and put time and energy into focusing on my youngest son's happiness, well-being, and future.
