My dad, John Perez, aka JP, was a wonderful man. His nickname should have been smiley because he was always happy and could make you smile with his presence. He loved to go to church, play his guitar and sing songs to anyone who would listen. He served in the US Army in Vietnam and was proud of his service. It was one of his biggest accomplishments.
As a father, he always knew how to make me laugh or feel better about myself when I was sad about something. He loved my brother and I, but when it came to his grandchildren, his heart melted. He had three granddaughters (21, 9, & 7) and two grandsons (5 & 4), one of which looks just like him.
As a son, he took care of his mother, who is now 91. It was tough since finding out she has dementia, but he did his best to care for her and make her happy.
My dad didn't have much, but what he had was priceless. His love, kindness, and words of wisdom made him special.
With his sudden and unexpected passing, I am doing everything I can to give him a proper burial. If you have it in your heart, I would appreciate any donations in any amount to help in this regard. Thank you, and may God bless you.
