Logan’s journey

Donation protected
Logan was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He is a a 2024 graduate. I am starting this Go fund me for him and his family. I can understand the devastation having a child go through cancer. I wanted to help immediately when I heard the news of Logan. He and his family have a hard next few months ahead. They will need all the support and help you can offer. Even if they are not the type of people to ask for it. They have no idea how much they will need it. Thank you to all who give and are willing to help them. Logan will be a hero at the end of this I am sure. God bless!

Here is the most Recent update from mom…

Update 5.21.24 @ 10:45pm Just a quick update after today’s appointment. I felt the “let down” after this one and was mentally and emotionally exhausted. Biopsy confirmed classic Hodgkins Lymphoma. Very treatable with chemo alone and a good success rate. They did find that the ejection fraction of his heart was at 46%, below the normal limit of about 55-70%. The assumption is that this is due to the mass in his chest, but we need to confirm this with the cardiologist. Please pray for confirmation that his heart is strong enough to do the chemo and that there isn’t any other issue going on with his heart. PET scan on Thursday is to confirm staging. If the cancer is above the diaphragm in the scan, it’s stage I/II. If it’s above and below, then it’s stage III/IV. If it’s the latter, then they’ll want to do a bone marrow biopsy to confirm it hasn’t made its way into the marrow. Central port will be placed on Tuesday of next week. He will be fully sedated for this and this is when they will also do the bone marrow biopsy if needed. The central port is where all future blood draws, contrasts, and infusions will be done in clinic. If all goes well, they’ll start treatment June 4th, as an outpatient clinic procedure. After 2 cycles, they’ll do another PET scan to ensure the infusions are working. During this time it will be so important for his platelets and neutrophils to be at acceptable levels for infusion. If they’re not, we can’t do treatment that day. They would maybe consider doing a transfusion to help if necessary. We’re looking at 4-6 months for treatment, which will cause us to have to make some decisions on his plan to attend UMD in the fall. Taking classes online in the fall or delaying until Spring were two things thrown out there. Please pray for Logan. Up until now, he’s been pretty groggy on the oxycodone post-biopsy. He mentioned tonight that he wished he had more because it helped him not to think about things. He’s mad and frustrated and really needs people to just listen and understand those feelings. He knows how lucky he is and how much worse this could be, but he’s already dreading how much treatment is going to “suck”. Losing his hair is going to “suck”. He’s right. This all sucks! And we’re all going to do everything we can to make this “suck” as least as we can. Please pray for peace and mental calm for Logan, and strength to face this head on in all aspects. Aiden is taking on the big brother role and visits daily after work. He’s offered to help with Alexa and some smaller financial responsibilities, such as motorcycle insurance. He’s such a good big brother. Alexa has struggled a little more in the last couple of days and mentioned being stressed about finals because she just thinks about Logan (I hear ya girl!). Peyton is in a similar boat as Alexa - she’s worried about Logan and what’s ahead. Adam has been coming by every day as well to visit Logan after work. It’s offered a chance for Jesse and I to run errands and such. He’s offered some laughter for the kids but mentions waking up in the night with tears. Jesse is our rock. He’s held down the fort at home, reminded me to eat, held me in the night when I’m awake and can’t sleep, and cried along with me as he reminds me to be optimistic and that we’re all going to get Logan and each other through this. I also try to check in with Jesse and make sure that HE is good. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for the continued prayers, check ins, food, visits, rides, etc. We may not respond at length, but we feel every word.
