Justice for Julia

This page is for my sister, my niece’s mother, my mother and fathers daughter, a cousin and a friend. Julia was a sweetheart who did not deserve this treatment. She was brutally attacked in the Tujunga wash by people, she probably was imagining at the time, were her "friends”. My sister was not homeless and was not part of the group she was with; she was an outsider, an outsider with money and a problem with addiction. She had just completed a year of rehabilitation and seemed to be on a steady course. She had her share of struggles with drugs and we do not judge her for that and we will also not judge the people she was with for drugs or being homeless. What we will judge them for (and ultimately hold someone accountable for) is the manner in which my sister had to suffer at the hands of these people. They took her into their camp, used her and ultimately brutally ended her life. They not only murdered her, but they left her there to decompose without conscience. They ate near her, they drank near her, they continued their way of life with her body there. These are people that need to pay for what they have done to another human being. In my opinion, the community would be a better place once we get these individuals off of our streets. The family has several plans to convict the person(s) responsible and to further help the community deal with the ongoing criminal activity in the wash and now scattered throughout the city. Some of our ideas include:
-Renting a billboard near Oro Vista to put pressure on the members of the previous wash camp to expose the truth about what happened to my sister.
-Continue the distribution of flyers in the area for tips
-Engage Felipe Fuentes about reasons that area is being neglected
-Work with the landowner of the privately owned are of the wash to assure the issue does not reappear.
We will not stop until the people responsible are held accountable and the city officials are forced to take action and stop ignoring the problem of havens being created for this criminal activity to thrive. Please know, that her children are very well taken care of and the family is making sure that they will have extended opportunities in life. After exhausting our efforts to bring change to the community and convict the person(s) responsible for my sister’s death, any remaining funds will be added to the children’s college savings accounts.
Julia’s sparkle eyes and joyful giggle with echo forever in our hearts. Thank you everyone!
