Nick's Journey Back to Health

Donation protected
It's been a little over a month since Nick was rushed to the hospital for a life threatening bacteria infection caused by complications with his diabetes. He was at the University of Iowa Hospitals and St. Luke's Hospital for his surgeries and care until May 5.

With the help of skilled doctors and nurses he went from grave critical condition to overcoming diabetic challenges, walking again and being the optimistic Nick we all know and love.

As well as recovering from the surgery to remove the infection, he also had a mild stroke before surgery when his blood pressure dropped to an extreme low. His recovery is still in progress with a healing wound and participation in physical, occupational and speech therapies.

While Nick does have medical insurance and we are looking at other short term disabilty options, the medical bills from the begining surgery to end of therapies etc.  will no doubt be massive. He will be recovering in Des Moines with his sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Mike Collet until his health improves. They will be providing him daily care, supervision and transportation to and from doctors appointments.

Our family and Nick appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers and support that you have given. If you feel it in your heart to donate to Nick to help with his medical expenses we would be extremely grateful. It would assist Nick and our families as we move forward with his healing and recovery. We thank you again and look forward to all the positive improvements to come!
