Beth Page is a walking miracle. The number of struggles she has gone through in her life could make an entire novel, so I will try to give the Reader's Digest version...
She was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when she was just 6 years old. After fighting the disease for over 40 years, she has faced many complications and her doctors feared the diabetes would ultimately take her life. Luckily, she was able to get a pancreas transplant in April 2014 (which she calls "little, baby pancreas").
A few months later, they found cancer in her lymph nodes around her heart. She has since gone through chemotherapy and surgeries to try and get rid of the cancer. There have been numerous complications with the surgeries and unfortunately, the tumor has now grown to twice the size it was before she started chemo.
Through all of the struggles in her life, she has never let anything get her down. Her strong spirit always somehow shines through, even in the toughest times.
Because of her complications with the diabetes, Beth has been disabled since she had me, her first born daughter in 1987. Unfortunately, state aid, while it has helped pay for a lot of her medical expenses, still does not cover the entire amount. Between the pancreas transplant and cancer, the amount of medical bills she owes has now piled up to over $500,000.
I am asking, on her behalf, that anyone who has been touched by her amazing spirit to pitch in whatever you can to help with some of her medical expenses so that the burden she's carrying doesn't have to be so big. We want her to be able to focus on fighting the cancer and recovering and not have to worry how she is going to pay her medical expenses.
Please give whatever you can. Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help, this is the best possible way. She needs help, us three kids do not have much savings at all, and are trying to help in every way we can but it is just not enough. Please help us show her how many amazing and caring friends she has.
