I’m having a bit of a nightmare here at my rescue, 2 of my aviary’s has had an outbreak of a bacterial / viral infection.

Unfortunately it’s taken 11 birds so far and 3 more are critical.

One of the aviaries are on appropriate antibiotics and the pigeons who are noticeably poorly are coming inside,.

Lots are making a great recovery but others unfortunately are struggling, so treatment is on going.

I currently have 8 of my birds inside.

My other aviary had an outbreak also - however this aviary is now fine.

ALL birds have come in and been monitored over the last couple of weeks and I’ve had no losses in here.

it’s now been followed up with plenty of probiotics and supplements.

I have spent £150 so far on medication as it’s needed to treat 75 birds.

I also had a £100 vet bill in October - which I posted about.

I have a future bill - for a leg amputation which will likely cost £150-200.

full avairy cleans are happening weekly. this is normally every 4 weeks but due to the outbreak I’m doing it more often - woodchip costs £60-£80 per avairy, So for 2 aviary’s it’s £480 a month alone on bedding.

And it will be on going for the next few months too.

october spends were over £1000 including food, puppy pads, kitchen roll, forumula, syringes, tubes, supplements, other meds for the birds etc.

november spends are looking at even more, as on top of the usual expenses, I am now having to weather proof my aviary’s with study wind proof tarpaulins. I have 5 aviary’s to weather proof.

They usually are ripped and battered by the end of winter, so each winter I purchase more. (Fully enclosing aviary’s with wood is not an option, as in the summer I want each space to be as open and aired as possible).

we are in a very bad place and cannot afford the expenses without help.

The rescue is crippled and without support I honestly don’t know what to do.

Every single £1 helps, even if you cannot afford to help with funds, please could you share this plea for help.
