Help! Sheila and Gerards house ruined by the flood
Just yesterday, a flood the like of which we have never seen in the Owenglin river in my lifetime, ruined my parents home in Riverside where I grew up.
I woke up yesterday morning with sleep in my eyes to a series of messages from my sister Cathriona, in Finland, telling me not to worry (I panicked immediately), that mam and dad were ok, but home was ruined by the flood.
We don't know the extent of the damage or what the cost will be, but any help them, would be gratefully appreciated.
They might even be cross at me for doing this.
Mam and dad have been part of the landscape in Clifden forever, and I'm reaching out to anyone and everyone to help give them a bit of a cushion to get things back on track.
I am writing this from the states, where I live, and I have to tell you, I feel helpless so far away, so this this money will help them, while I'm trying to figure out how to get home to be there with them and help however I can.
Thanks to my lovely friends Susan O Leary and Fiona Shanahan for the photos.
Thank you.
