Hawks Walking Football Charity Appeal 2023

The Hawks Walking Football club was formed in September 2014 with just 4 players and has now grown to 84 members ranging in age from 50 to 76 years of age. We play 3 times a week at the Havant and Waterlooville Football Club (National League South) 3G pitch and enter teams into county and national FA tournaments.

Hawks Walking Football (HWF) team has been a part of the Hawks in the Community, and subsequently Hawks Foundation, family since September 2014. The club has thrived as a supportive and friendly group, welcoming people of all backgrounds and abilities and has always believed that giving people the chance to take part is the most important aspect of our existence.

The club are holding a number of fundraising events culminating in a walking football festival on 21 May 2023 which will be held in honour of Rich Bonsey who was a very enthusiastic and inspirational early member of the club who sadly passed away from cancer in 2017.

This year the funds raised will be shared across 6 charities:

1) Rowans Hospice which provides free care and support to adults in our community who have a life-limiting illness and their families.

2) Hannahs appeal who support children with cancer and life limiting diseases by providing quality breaks for them and their families.

3) Chestnut Tree House which provides hospice care services and community support for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

4) MIND who provide mental health services in local communities across England and Wales.

5) Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) who bring an advanced Critical Care Team to the most seriously ill and injured patients in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight using a helicopter and/or emergency response vehicle.

6) Off The Record (OTR)-South who provide emotional wellbeing and mental health support for young people aged 11-25 by offering a choice of counselling options.
