Please help save Boomer

Please help save my baby. My name is Shawn and Boomer was in training to become my service dog. My current service dog is 6 years old and she is wonderful, but it's time to let her retire.

Boomer is the sweetest, quickest learner ever, but being 10 months old, it was time to get him neutered. Something terrible went wrong. Immediately after bringing him home on the same day, he was extremely lethargic, he wouldn’t eat, he wasn’t himself. This was on a Thursday, so by the time we realized that he wasn’t feeling good and his incision was super swollen, we called on Monday and were told to send pictures. They took 4 days to call back (even after checking to see if they got the pictures). By now, he hadn’t eaten anything for 3 days. I started giving him Pepto and baby food by syringe. He kept his food down until about 5 hours later when he started throwing up what looked and smelled like brown poo. Finally, on Friday late afternoon, I got a call and was told to bring him in on Monday. I got there and after the exam, was told he needed exploratory surgery. It was going to cost $495. Mind you, I am on a fixed disability income and had used a neuter coupon from the Humane Society in our rural town. It was much appreciated. I didn’t have $495 until payday the next day. I offered to give them my number as my check would deposit by 9 am. I was told I would have to come back the next day. My baby was dying and they didn’t care. I got upset and asked to speak to the vet. I let her know that my boy was happy and healthy when I brought him in, and I wanted to know now what happened. This was not the vet that did the neuter, and she agreed to do the exploratory surgery. After surgery, we were told that he had a hole in his bowel and that he had more than likely had it since birth, and the neuter exacerbated the problem. She said the neuter would not have anything to do with the bowel. I call BS because there is no way a very healthy dog, eating at the same time every day, pooing nicely at the same time every night, could come home feeling like that and deteriorate that quickly. He had surgery to repair the problem. When we picked him up, I used my entire check to pay $900 on his bill. I still have $1,179.95 to pay, and he needs to be seen again for a checkup as his staples have come apart. I have sent photos and will call first thing Monday as no one is there on weekends. I'm beside myself as I have no idea how to get through the month, pay the remaining balance, and have him seen again. I cannot lose my boy. We have always donated, run fundraisers, and hustled to help others with their pets and even humans. We have helped so many during fires and other disasters, and I absolutely hate even having to ask. If it wasn’t for him, I never would. My babies come before me, and I have no other options but to ask. Anything helps, and all is appreciated. Please know that we will continue to pay it forward.
