Hi there!
We, Adrien Leroy and Daan de Jong, are excited to share that we will be participating in the Ironman in Calella (Barcelona, Spain) on October 6th this year. This event represents not only a significant personal challenge but also a great opportunity to make a positive impact beyond the race.
So far, training for the Ironman has been a rewarding journey, demanding dedication, resilience, and perseverance. As we prepare to swim 3.9K, cycle 180.2K, and run 42.2K, we are reminded of the strength and determination required to tackle such an endeavor. It is a journey that mirrors the challenges we often face in our (professional) lives: setting ambitious goals, overcoming obstacles, and pushing our limits.
In addition to the personal achievement, we are using this opportunity to support a cause that is close to our hearts.
As Daan is a father of two, we are constantly reminded of how fortunate his children are to have access to a proper healthcare system and quality education. These are fundamental necessities that every child should have, yet many around the world do not. This realization has inspired us to use this Ironman event as an opportunity to support a cause that strives to provide these essential services to those in need.
We have chosen to raise funds for UNICEF, an organization dedicated to ensuring that children everywhere have access to healthcare and education. UNICEF works tirelessly to bridge the gap and bring hope and opportunity to communities lacking these basic rights. By supporting this cause, we can help build a world where every child has the chance to thrive, learn, and grow in a safe and healthy environment.
We kindly ask for your support in this endeavor. Whether it's a donation, sharing this message, or words of encouragement, every bit helps and is greatly appreciated. Together, we can help UNICEF continue their vital work and make a positive impact on countless lives.
Thank you for your support and for being a part of this journey with us. We look forward to sharing my progress and the race day experience with all of you.
Best regards,
Adrien & Daan
