My name is Ludgien, and I am the cousin of the sweetest and most caring individual, Michelle Sianghio. She currently resides in the Philippines and has undergone many medical treatments in her life due to an early diagnosis of osteosarcoma at the age of 8 years old. Although she has been living with pain, hardships, and medical visits throughout her life, she continues to smile, care for others, and her faith in God never wavers.

Unfortunately, another hurdle in life has presented itself before her. Her prosthesis has broke internally resulting her inability to move her leg at all and is extremely painful. She is currently waiting to hear from her doctor who is tirelessly looking for a replacement of the screw that had broken off. It has been decades since the prosthesis was surgically placed, chances of finding the part is slim. Surgery to replace the screw is costly… but if they are unable to find the exact replacement then they will need to replace the whole entire prosthesis, which is unimaginably more expensive… Michelle and her mother are trying their best to ask the Filipino government for help and is jumping through hoops to obtain any financial support. But as you can guess, it can be lengthy and straining. I fear that the longer she waits, the higher chance of her encountering complications, especially circulation issues, will put her limb at risk. 

 

Therefore, I decided to create a GoFundMe to spread her story and reach as many people as I possibly can to help support my cousin during this difficult time. Michelle, her siblings, and her single mother have gone through so much, and any donation or share on social media would be immensely appreciated.

"Hello dear family and friends,

As a mother, there are moments that stay with you forever. Yesterday became one of them.

In the middle of her meeting, Mich suddenly had to be rushed to the hospital. After consultation and x-ray, we found out that na nabali yung leg prosthesis niya. Hindi na po niya maramdaman ung lower leg niya, and because of this, Mich currently cannot walk or put weight on her left leg. For now, she is confined to the bed and can only move using crutches or a wheelchair as advised by her doctors.

For those who may not know, Mich has been fighting her own battles since she was 8 years old, when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma or bone cancer. Since then, she has gone through multiple operations and has been using a prosthetic leg as part of her journey to live a full and active life.

By God’s grace, she has been able to overcome so much, finishing her studies, building her career, and living independently.

That’s why seeing her in this situation again as a mom, masakit po. Ang hirap makita ang anak mo na biglang nawalan ng mobility, especially someone like Mich who is always on the go, serving others, meeting clients, and creating so many things for people. But we are holding on to the same God who has carried her through every surgery, every recovery, and every step she has taken since then.

We’ve been advised that her prosthesis now needs to be fully replaced. It needs to be ordered and imported which will take time. Wala pa pong exact amount na masabi ang doctors dahil customized pa ito kay Mich, but we are trusting God as we begin to prayerfully prepare and pag-ipunan ang kanyang replacement.

We are sharing this with humble hearts. Not to pressure anyone, but because many have been asking how they can help Mich during this time. If the Lord leads you, any form of support whether through prayers, sharing this post, or financial help will be a big blessing to our family.
