This is Hadley Jo’s story… Hadley Jo is 2 years old and was diagnosed with Cryptogenic Localization Related Epilepsy in November 2015. She suffers from seizures sometimes daily, which in her case are caused by abnormal brain waves. Seizures are SCARY and we are asking for your help in helping Hadley Jo.
We had a recent experience with a friend’s service dog, “Remi”, a german shepherd who arrived for an unexpected visit and immediately started gravitating toward Hadley Jo. Once Remi’s leash was released, “Remi” ran toward Hadley Jo circling her body, licking her face and neck responding to one of her seizure episodes trying to help her safely to the ground. This event has opened our eyes as parents to the possibility of another option in helping Hadley Jo remain safe while maintaining her independence. Hadley Jo’s epilepsy does not (although a disability) allow for medical endorsement due to the existing inconsistent research.
We invite you to join us in helping Hadley Jo get her service dog and join us in our journey as we help raise awareness for other children with epilepsy. Our Pediatrician is teaming up with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to start a research study of toddlers with epilepsy and service dogs. We are excited for you to follow Hadley Jo’s story and share this journey with our family! We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity!
