Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues:
We are raising funds on behalf of The Nature Conservancy to help build the Rebecca Wenk Memorial Trail in the Feather River Land Trust. As some of you may know, Rebecca Wenk was a passionate botanist. A Research Associate in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC-Berkeley, Becky loved wildflowers and teaching us all about them. She had an unquenchable fascination with plants, and through her photography and art captured her love of plants and the great outdoors.
Family and friends will climb Mt. Rainier July 2-5, 2018 to raise funds to help build the new botanical trail in the beautiful Sierra Valley that Becky loved so much. Here are some pictures of the Conservation Land where the new trail will be made. Our goal is $5,000. Your support and contribution is most appreciated. All funds will go directly to support the new trail.
About the trail: In 2014, The Northern Sierra Partnership, The Nature Conservancy and Feather River Land Trust partnered to acquire two properties adjacent to the Sierra Valley’s Maddalena Preserve (owned and managed by Feather River Land Trust) to expand the preserve to form a single 2,535 acre preserve. The partners envision a network of trails, educational kiosks, and bird observation platforms on the expanded preserve, as well as a canoe and kayak launching point for trips into the wetlands or down the federally designated Wild and Scenic Middle Fork Feather River. We also hope to build a visitor center on the property to highlight the fascinating human and natural history of Sierra Valley and facilitate public enjoyment of the preserve.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
