Remembering Mario Cervantes' Light

My heart is heavy to say that my brother, Mario Cervantes, committed suicide on January 14th, 2026. He was only 22 years old. My brother is what brought the four of us together. Cebantes may have been the third born, but he had the brain, muscle, and tenderness of the first born. Honestly, he served the role better than I ever could.

Since Cebantes graduated high school 6 months early, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. After completing his time as a marine, Cebantes came back to our hometown of Key West to live and help with our retired, disabled dad and two younger siblings, who both are on the spectrum. He created so many memories. I loved when he would send me pictures of his adventures. Cebantes was always looking for something to do or someone to help. Together, they went on different experiences to get out to explore, especially dinner. Cebantes showed our baby brother, Gabriel, a few cooking and self defense tricks while ensuring our sister, Lynda, had the most annoying customer at Domino’s. The most important job he had was being the most creative chicken trap builder of all time for our Pops. Man, my brother had it all and I wish he could’ve see that. Oh my baby, my sweet baby. Now, silence is loud and the ground is nonexistent since he left so suddenly.

My brother, Cebantes, will be honored by our father, Mario Cervantes (not a Senior) and Lourdes Mena, his oldest sisters, Alieshka and Lynda, baby brother, Gabriel, and baby niece, Jelian.

I am Alieshka, the oldest child of the Cervantes bunch. I am starting this GoFundMe to have a place for all of those who were touched by Cebantes’ light and want to help our dad during this time. All donations will be given to my dad for my brother’s memorial and to support him and msiblings during this time. Thank you so much, God bless and be sweet.
