TEAM FUND

TEAM is a creative studio and online platform created for young artists by young black artists. We produce, direct, and commission original content and programming. We are committed to connecting young artists with the community and tools needed to take their ideas to the next level. 

Our mission is to create a community network of young artists across all disciplines with the intention of encouraging collaboration, education, and service. As young artists of color, we are far too aware of the socio-economic barriers many young people may face when trying to break into an artistic practice. We want to help eradicate these barriers. TEAM aims to uplift the visions of our community members and assist them through their creative process in making their project ideas realities and offering them a platform to publish their work. 

In order to explore further the avenues of our community engagement and artwork, we need funding. Please support our mission and platform by way of any donation--every dollar counts.  We are currently non-funded and this inherently limits both the reach of our mission and the execution of our vision. With access to funding, we would be able to organize more events like our 100% youth-run and operated, THHRIFT'S Thrift--a pop-up thrift store, youth marketplace, and creative lounge for young artists hosted during The John F. Kennedy Center for The Performing Art's REACH Opening Festival in D.C. Not only were we able to fly in young artists from San Antonio Texas, New York, and Philly, but we were able to make the event free, and give away clothing with every purchase, but most importantly we were ABLE TO PAY EVERY YOUNG PERSON working the event/on the event team.  

Our team members have long been invested in equitable arts education, working with organizations like Gucci’s Chime For Change, The Aspen Institute, The John F. Kennedy Center for The Performing Arts, the National Black Justice Coalition, GLAAD,  and DC Public Schools etc. We hope to create more physical/digital community programming and continue to expand our nationwide community of creatives. In order to do this we need funding and means with which to pay folk for the work they do.  The creative process, though being essential to our existence as artists, can be extremely expensive and inaccessible to many of us. We've never had the privilege of booking studios, using family cinema cameras, or buying new equipment. Everything we've made has been made from the hallways and classrooms of our high school,  college dorms, our bedrooms, and fire escapes. We want to discover the possibilities of creating with a budget.  Please support us in this wish and support our community and team of Black, Latinx, and Asian creatives in making this our full-time gig!
