In March I took a new job in Nashville, TN and we need to relocate to the area; the 2.5-hour one-way commute is a big burden. Circumstances are such that we really ought to buy a home rather than renting--mainly that it's essentially impossible to rent with more than two pets, and we want to keep our furry family together--so we have been looking at houses. The pool of suitable dwellings has been restricted by other considerations; for example, we need a single-level home due to Lauren's disabilities & being on oxygen, etc.

However, due to the extremely competitive nature of the Nashville housing market, it's been quite difficult to get one. Most decent houses sell within a couple of days of listing, with multiple offers. As of today (April 4) we finally had an offer accepted, and hope to be closing mid-May. Before last month we had no idea we'd be needing to purchase a house right now, so we weren't actively saving toward that goal. Most of our savings has been going into a 401(k), which normally could be used for a home purchase, but because of some weird rule changes to my employer's program a few months ago, we can only get out a fraction of it (~$2,000). In addition to that amount, we do have enough for the down payment, but not all the other expenses related to moving. Affording the mortgage payment will not be any problem--the upfront costs are the issue.
Our seller has agreed to cover a portion of our closing costs, but not all of them. And we'll still need some extra to cover expenses like renting a moving truck.
Long story short: we could really use some help covering our relocation costs so we can get into this house!

Thanks very much if you are able to help.
