Hello, I am Ashley’s spouse and we need your help . Ashley is a 44year old mother of 2 boys .
Ashley has been diagnosed with advanced ALS and this all started one year ago with some random falls and unable to get up on her own. Then in July she started to have to pick her legs up to get in the car and then she would fall and couldn’t get up at all. In October things were progressing faster so she spent a few days in the hospital and after multiple test she was misdiagnosed and sent home only to get worse where she couldn’t go up or down stairs anymore. Then after she had to start to use a walker ,we took her back to the hospital and this time they put the work in and did every test possible! On December 22 ,2022 We were told by a highly regarded neurologist and ALS specialist that in fact she has advanced ALS .We had to have our son Mason who is a senior in high school drop out and move to E-learning and give up his senior year to take care of his mom . Our oldest son Max at the age of 20 is working full time and helps with the bills these are good boys who have stepped up and put their lives on hold to help there mom, I can’t be any prouder. We purchased chairs and shower benches, walker ,leg and ankle braces out of pocket and as fast as we get something to help she would get worse to the point they didn’t help anymore. So as everyone knows the cost of living is Outrageous and on that note we went from a family that saved a little to a paycheck to paycheck family ,We moved to a better situation for Ashley with no stairs . Thank God we did because now she can only stand with someone hugging her to hold her up . Ashley is now in a electric wheelchair. This is our concerns in the near future she won’t be able to stand and we won’t be able to transfer her to a vehicle
So a van would help her so much . With daily activities and all the appointments.Plus a van would allow us to give her some freedom and maybe some hope!!! I could only hope . Thank you for taking the time to read Ashley story.
