“A beautician has been savagely wounded by an axe-wielding man believed to be her estranged husband in an attack at a major Melbourne shopping centre that left others sickened and afraid.
Police say the woman was struck with an axe "multiple times", inside a beauty salon at the Westfield Fountain Gate shopping centre on Princes Highway in Narre Warren just after 10am on Monday.” – The Age
39-year-old Nima is recovering in hospital after being savagely attacked at work and is a victim of Domestic Violence. Less than a year ago, Nima gained the courage to leave her husband after suffering domestic abuse for far too long.
Nima was working hard to support herself and her two children and wanted to break the cycle of domestic abuse.
Nima who migrated from Sri Lanka, has no immediate family in Australia and her support network during this ordeal is limited. Thankfully, Nima has one trusted friend who is currently providing housing and care for Nima’s children during this traumatic time.
Surgeons have advised the injuries are substantial and Nima’s recovery will be ongoing. The injuries received from this attack are not only physically scarring but will be mentally and emotionally hard to overcome for her and her children.
Nima and her children are in need of community support during this horrific time as they have limited support and is why we have set up this Go Fund Me page to #StandByNima
I am hoping to show Nima that she is not alone and that there are people who care about her and her family’s wellbeing and recovery.
