Jade Kell’s Recovery Fund
Jade is a beautiful, independent, 19-year-old young woman whose life was abruptly turned upside down when she found herself extremely ill, in pain and suddenly unable to walk. Jade was rushed to Windsor Regional Hospital, and after several tests, was diagnosed with a rare and serious blood infection.
Jade’s MRI showed multiple abscesses near her spine, the largest one being 10 cm and sitting directly on a nerve which caused Jade severe pain and total immobilization.
Jade has endured two surgeries to remove the abscesses and as of November 21, 2020, she’s been in the hospital for a total of 4 weeks. Jade’s medical team is unsure how the infection started, but if may have been from a small scratch on her leg.
This serious blood infection has resulted in multiple complications that has left Jade unable to walk.
Jade continues to improve with the antibiotics and surgeries and has been able to stand during physiotherapy. She is however, still battling the infection which has spread to cause osteomyelitis, an infection in the bone, septic arthritis as well as infection in her joints and muscles.
Jade has a long road to recovery ahead of her including possible additional surgeries, long-term physiotherapy, and in-home medical support. It is unknown how much longer Jade will remain in the hospital as she waits on more tests, a bone scan, white blood cell scan and another MRI.
Jade’s family is so proud of her. She is a beautiful soul that advocates for justice and equality for all people and is not afraid to and stand up for what she believes in. Jade is a talented singer and songwriter and is also an amazing photographer. Jade has been a Cadet with the Windsor Sea Cadets - RCSCC Agamemnon for seven years, she is very hardworking and independent. Jade has been living on her own and supporting herself for the last two years while working at Vistaprint and Rogers. Jade also loves animals, especially cats, and has raised money for the TLC Animal Aid organization in Windsor Ontario, a rescue that she continues to support and is very dear to her.
Jade was planning on attending college in January for Marketing, which is now postponed to September 21st or beyond. Jade will be unable to work for at least a year. There is just so much uncertainty….
Jade’s diagnosis has left our family in shock and feeling helpless as to what we can do for her. We are spread across Ontario and Michigan, and due to Covid 19 restrictions, only Jade’s Mom and Dad can visit her in the hospital.
While Jade is strong and resilient, she struggles to stay positive while fighting this aggressive infection. Everyone is pulling for Jade including her medical team.
Please consider helping Jade. Jade has been in the hospital for 4 weeks and bills are piling up. Our hope for Jade is that she can focus on her recovery without having the extra stress about having to worry about bills and expenses.
We are raising money to help with her basic living expenses during her illness and recovery such as rent, utilities, groceries, and medical expenses as they arise. All funds raised will go directly to Jade to help her in her journey of recovery. We love you sweetheart get well soon <3
