We are K-9 team Liberty. Our search and recovery team is located in Dubois Pa.
Liberty is our trained, certified search bloodhound that searches for lost and missing people.
She has had a tough start at life but never gives up!
We adopted Liberty in August of 2013 when she was 7 months old and immediately started her training. Shortly after we got her she was diagnosed with heart worm. We were devastated. The treatment for her heart worm was ongoing for approximately 6 months. Finally the diagnosis came in May of 2014, she was heart worm free!
Lib went on with her training despite the treatment that took so much out of her. They are rough.
October 2014, Russell and her got their first certifications and continued every year to get better at their jobs. Liberty and Russell have had several finds and a recovery. They know their job and do it well! They have worked so hard and so many hours to get to where they are today.
A few weeks ago, Lib started to limp on her left hind leg. We took her immediately to Metzgers in St College, Pa. (The best in our opinion). She was put on physical therapy and meds for two weeks hoping it was just a pulled muscle or ligament. There was no improvement and she seemed to be worse.
Yesterday, she was sedated so they could investigate further and do biopsies, we received the worst diagnosis that we could imagine...CANCER! She has cancer in the tissue between the knee joints.
There are a few options, but having a dog that was diagnosed with the same thing 3 years ago, we know what we have to do....We will fight this!
Liberty goes tomorrow for surgery to amputate her leg.
This is going to be a long road but Liberty has never given up through it all and we won't give up on her either!
Any funds donated will go directly to her care. She will need frequent vet visits, chemo treatments and medications after the initial amputation.
We will post updates on her progress.
Team Liberty would like to thank you for any and all donations. Love you all!
