My loving mother, Evie Baldwin, has lost everything in the Paradise California fires. Evie is in her 70s, retired, and living on a fixed income. She is also the sole caretaker of her older sister, SueAnn, who is suffering from dementia and Alzheimer. Evie also cares for her disabled son and mentally ill grandson.
My mother barely made it out of the house on Thursday, November 8, 2018, when a mandatory evacuation of the entire town was issued. Over 27,000 people left with barely any notice, no time to gather any belongings, fleeing for their lives. Evie was able to grab her sister, who was still in her night robe, and their three dogs, and drive to safety before the town burned down in a matter of hours.
Over 30 confirmed deaths and still over 200 people missing and unaccounted for, my mother and her sister are lucky to be alive. But everything that they owned was in that house and they have a very long road ahead of them before there will be any stability in their lives.
As of right now, there is still no word on when they will be allowed to return to Paradise to see what is left of their town and their home. The town officials has deemed it too dangerous to come back with downed power lines, exposed gas lines, downed trees, poor air quality, and burned cars and houses all around.
The above picture was a picture of their house that a town official sent to them. As you can see, there is nothing left of their home but a concrete slab and a part of a metal gate.
My mother is holed up in a motel in Redding, California right now, heartbroken, stressed, and scared. I want to be able to help her in her time of need and be there for her, just as she has been there for me and by my side my entire life. If you can spare it, any little bit will help lift the burden. Please say a prayer for her and please share this fundraiser.
Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give.
