Bones Pet Rescue, located in the very rural, isolated community of Covelo in NW California, has been the primary animal welfare agency for this area for 23 years.

Many animals come to us because they have no other options. They are usually sick, injured, starved, abused, and desperate. We take in as many as we possibly can and give them whatever care they need. Some remain here at the Sanctuary for the rest of their lives because it is the best possible life for them. Many are adopted when they are healed and ready to move on. Recently, we have been able to have other nearby rescues take over the adoption process for, especially, puppies.

We take in any animal in desperate circumstances and, for wild and exotic creatures, we get them to a facility specializing in their care. Our Sanctuary is a haven for goats, sheep, horses, pigs, calves and those dogs and cats who need the special care we can give them. We especially enjoy helping those who have special needs, and seniors.

We exist solely on donations. We have no paid staff. This rescue is our life's mission and we give it everything we've got: energy, effort, dedication, money, and improvements wherever we can make them. A huge part of our budget goes to veterinary care, food, and shelter maintenance and improvement. We make special accommodations for special needs pets, seniors, those in recovery from illness or injury.
