My name is Ashley Lour, and together with Jarrod and Michelle, after much thought and prayer, we decided to create this GoFundMe for Don and Rita.

On Tuesday, August 5th, Don’s life changed in an instant. While riding his motorcycle to work, he was struck by a driver who veered left of center. He was airlifted to KU Medical Center, where he has been receiving exceptional care. Since then, Don has endured five intense surgeries — with many more ahead — as doctors work tirelessly to repair the damage from this devastating accident.

The driver who hit Don was uninsured, which leaves an overwhelming amount of uncertainty about what expenses will be covered. In addition to mounting medical bills, Rita faces significant travel and lodging costs as she remains by Don’s side for what is expected to be a long and unpredictable recovery journey.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers, love, and encouragement from family, friends, and our community. Many have asked how they can help, and this GoFundMe is one way to directly support Don and Rita through the financial challenges they now face.
