Corey Needs Surgery

Donation protected
Hey everybody! It is with heavy heart that this campaign is being started. It's for Corey Beahm, a good-hearted, hard-working man who is currently serving our community as a drug prevention specialist in Berkeley County, WV; and, as you can hear, is a very talented singer/songwriter. (Turn your volume up to listen to him singing "Gaven's Song.") Corey has been working for over a decade in our community helping others find meaningful employment, leading kindermusic in Berkeley and Jefferson County, coaching boy's basketball at tournaments and the Rec Center in Martinsburg, and helping parents learn how to teach their children through play.  Corey's dedication to helping others has secured a reputation for being well-liked and respected among our community and by its leaders. In his spare time, he participates in the music group Shedhoppers, and is the lead singer of the blues/rock band BadMonkey.
Well, Corey has been facing some life threatening health situations over the last 18 months, and has come to a road block that we are hoping you can help with. See, Corey has an auto-immune disease that is attacking his kidneys called Primary Membranous Nephropathy.  He has had to do 6 months of chemotherapy and continues on a treatment that compromises his immune system. Whether is be from the chemo, or plain bad luck, Corey now has a tumor in his mouth that is wrapped between his two front teeth and is embedded in his upper jaw bone. The tumor is causing him to get abscesses, which is particularly dangerous with little immune system helping to fight off infections. So, in order to get the biopsy, an oral surgeon is going to have to remove his teeth, the tumor, and part of his skull (upper jaw bone), but here is the catch, and the reason for this request: insurance won't cover the reconstructive surgery needed to implant a cadaver bone and replace the teeth. Without the reconstructive surgery, Corey will be left disfigured in a very visible way, which means he will no longer be able to share his voice and will likely not be as welcomed by the kids he mentors due to the facial deformity that removing the tumor, teeth, and bone will cause! It is unreal that this isn't considered a medical necessity, but none the less, we are told it will cost at least $2500 out of pocket. (We are asking for $2800 to cover fees and taxes that go to this site.)
I don't know about you, but $2500 doesn't seem like enough money to let this man suffer and potentially die! So, we are asking friends, family, and anyone who can to donate and help save his life and restore his dignity! It doesn't have to be a lot, we know times can be hard on people (seriously, it's why he needs help because times are hard on this disabled social worker too!); but every dollar adds up. Little by little we hope to achieve this goal.....before it is too late!
Thanks for your time and donations! God bless ya!
