Andy’s 50th birthday!
Donation protected
Hi, I’m fundraising for Andy as it’s his 50th birthday at the end of the year and I want to do something special to tell him we love him and how much he amazes me with his ongoing determination to be family with us all.
10 years ago Andy was diagnosed with a tumour in his spinal cord and given the choice of surgery or certain disability, we chose surgery and, after a fight for life, andy became tetraplegic- meaning no use of all his limbs.
Andy has been an almost lifelong snooker fan, having been gifted a table at age 8. Andy and I have been to a few snooker tournaments together too.
Andy is also a football fan and an American football fan, Andy and I have been married 25 years with 3 children who are in university and school. Andy is a hard worker, a giver, a helper. Andy has also lived the last decade as a high level Quadreplegic, meaning he has no movement from below his neck and requires invasive ventilation to support his respiratory system.
Andy has made great strides in the last 10 years from where we started but still requires 24/7care and these carers come with us everywhere we go, everywhere he goes!
My hearts desire is see him happy and he would love to go to the world snooker championships in Sheffield one day, but……..
I’m setting up this fundraising because costs are prohibitively expensive for us as we would need to stay overnight in a hotel, hire a hospital bed, mattress and hoist for Andy.
Book overnight accommodation so that we can take the 4 care staff needed to work with Andy during the day and overnight.
Any money raised would go towards all the additional costs incurred in getting Andy to see the top snooker tournament, thank you so much in advance.
Any money left over would go to doing any of the other activities that he would love to do, particularly a powerboat activity designed for wheelchair users to enjoy at the same level as able-bodied people.
Let’s make his 50th birthday year special!!
