This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
On November 7th, we had the rug pulled out from under us. Tom was let go from his job, a company he has worked for for almost 4 years. The company that brought us to Georgia. It was effective immediately. They came and picked up his company car. He turned in his phone and laptop. No goodbyes. No notice.
Our health insurance is terminating on November 30th. COBRA is $2500 for our family. We NEED insurance for my healthcare, as well as coverage for our babies. My job does not pick back up until the end of February, and unfortunately, I am considered seasonal and do not qualify for benefits.
We have spent the past week applying for all available resources, including unemployment. In Georgia, it is capped at $365 a week, which is barely enough to pay half of our monthly bills. Tom has applied for well over 50 positions. We are hopeful something amazing will come along.
In addition to bills, we are now down to one vehicle. And Christmas is a month away. The stress of this situation has taken its toll on us, and I was urged to reach out for help. If you know us, you know we are usually the helpers, so this is uncharted territory and extremely humbling.
Every dollar will go to helping us stay afloat until we are back on our feet, as well as providing a modest Christmas for our kids. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
