I'm writing this on behalf of my sister Kelly Palma and brother in law Freddy Palma with love and prayer....
On Wednesday morning Sept. 2 my brother in law Freddy was involved in a devastating car accident on his way to work. Since then it has been a roller coaster ride for Freddy and my sister. He sustained many injuries to his jaw, chin and most seriously to his trachea. He was immediately intubation due to the injury to his throat and since then he has gone through a few surgeries and procedures to repair his jaw (metal plates inplanted in his jaw and chin )and a tracheostomy to maintain his breathing. Doctors are still evaluating his condition to determine if he will need another surgery to repair the damage to his trachea or if there is a less invasive way to help Freddy maintain his breathing for the rest of his life. He is currently in the ICU recovering from these procedures and awaiting his trauma team's plan for future treatment. Needless to say Freddy, Kelly and their 2 baby girls have a long road ahead of them.
The reason I decided to set up this GoFund me account is because Freddy recently moved jobs from the county of Riverside water department to DWP less than 3 months ago which means his is not yet eligible for his vacation, sick pay and other benefits that would normally apply in this unexpected situation. As you can imagine, this has added much more stress and uncertainty to these already devastating circumstances. Freddy and Kelly have always been very hard working people which makes this situation so sad. Freddy made this decision to change jobs to help advance his career and to ensure future stability for his family, as many of us have done at different points in our lives , never thinking that something like this could happen during that probation period. Kelly is waiting to hear from work personnel to determine if they can offer any help but in the meantime it is a very stressful situation.
As many of you know, Kelly and Freddy are currently fostering to adopt 2 beautiful baby girls which has been a huge blessing in their lives. Since having the girls, they have dedicated themselves to providing these babies with the unconditional love and stability they deserve. They pride themselves on being the best parents they can be and these 2 little girls are loved immensely. Kelly will be faced with caring for these precious babies while helping Freddy recover, along with maintaining their home and financial responsibities until Freddy can get back to work which is unknown when that will be at this point.
I know Kelly and Freddy have many friends and family who love them very much. Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help. I'm asking you to please donate what you can to this account to help Kelly and Freddy maintain the life they've worked so hard for. To help ease the burden of this situation for Freddy who is going through so much physically but who, as many of you know, takes much pride in providing for his family and would never ask anyone for anything! I can imagine how worried he is about Kelly and the girls right now.
